No this is not a joke. No you don’t have to sign up to some random company and click links. And no I do not make thousands of ££s a day, but… Yes, I make money on Instagram.
Do I make money from every single one of my Instagram posts? Absolutely not… I wouldn’t to, I wouldn’t want my Instagram feed looking like a giant advertisement. I also won’t endorse or promote any products that I wouldn’t use, blog or vlog about normally. Accepting money and posting about something that I wouldn’t use or at least trial and review myself is dishonest in my opinion and would come across as spammy.
I wanted to write this article for you, quickly, because I LOVE helping others. I don’t see the point of having fabulous information and keeping it to yourself, especially when absolutely ANYONE can do this too! All you’ll need is a phone with a camera, an eye for photography, and a willingness to work your bum off. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a blogger using Social Media or you class yourself as a Social Media influencer, either way this will help you…
- Sign up for Instagram-focused agency platforms- there are completely free platforms designed specifically for Instagram who’s sole purpose is to connect brands with Instagram influencers. One that I really LOVE is Hypemarket.com. Hypemarket is a relatively new website and they seem to be focusing on smaller businesses and Etsy shops for the time being. Some of the brands they partner with only want to trade product for an Instagram post, but you will find some who are willing to pay (AND provide a sample product – Yay freebies!).
- Use affiliate networks that are compatible with Instagram– You still can’t add links in your Instagram comments, but you can utilize affiliate networks who have taken the work out of this for you. Two that I know of are Liketoknow.it and Shopstyle.it. I’m not a massive fan of these two, but hey you can’t knock free money! If someone is signed up with either Shopstyle.it or Liketoknow.it and they like your Instagram photo that you’ve linked they will receive ready-to-shop links in their email inbox. This is still something that I’m having to educate my followers on because I think a lot of normal Instagram users have no idea what these things are still and how to use them or that they even exist!
- Reach out to brands directly. If there is a brand out there that you’re a fan of and want to work with send them an email or message via social media! It really is that simple. They may turn you down, but it’s worth a shot. Like I always say, “If you don’t ask, you won’t get”. When it comes to reaching out to brands it’s all about the pitch. Make sure you know how you would incorporate the product into a post, what you would say about it, and why you love it so much. Try to think outside the box and come up witha unique way of promoting their product or service to make your pitch stand out from the rest. Don’t know their contact email? Send them a direct message on Instagram! You’re reaching out to them on the platform you will be posting on so this is a great way to start the process. They are then able to go directly to your profile and see if they would be interested in working with you. Normally if they respond with an email for you to reach them at it’s a really good sign.
Have any questions for me? Is there something you’ve been doing to earn money on Instagram that I should know about? Leave it for me in the comments!
Wishing you love and happiness,
